About Us

Hello, I'm Hilary, an ex-teacher with a passion for fabrics, haberdashery, fashion and drama. I come from a long line of hoarders and as a child I was fascinated by great granny's clothes chest containing underskirts, bloomers, feather capes etc.

I've always been interested in costume and wanted to sew when at school, but unfortunately I was forced into Latin, French and German rather than art, needlework and cooking which have remained lasting passions and hobbies.

When I first started helping with Grange Panto I found a like-minded and equally mad friend Alison, who has helped to make costumes. Alison and I have worked hard to provide a more streamlined storage system with easier access to costumes, small props and accessories.

We hope that local drama groups, party organisers, and people taking part in themed events will take advantage of what we offer. In some cases part of the costume may be original as I do have some original items of dress, bags, shoes and hats.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to help you, I am sometimes in the position of being able to make a 'one-off' costume if enough notice is given. The unusual and the exotic are challenges we look forward too.
