Lots of people borrowed costumes for the Edwardian Festival this weekend, and some did well in the costume competition.
A good time was had by all and lots of money was made for charity.
I have recently spent time making some Victorian dresses with Ulverston Dickensian week in mind. These include three girls dresses, (age 10 - 12), one with a bustle and a size 18 to 20 day dress in pale green.
I have also made a boys tweed Victorian suit in green for Toad in Wind in the Willows. This is a Grange Youth Theatre production which takes place at the Bandstand in Grange at the beginning of July.
Busy supplying costumes to Grange Opera for Chorus, Fagins boys and some principals. These were used for photo calls and some may be used in the production. It is at the Victoria Hall the first week of March.
Flookburgh Opera are putting on South Pacific in the last week of March and we are providing most of the costumes, and some of the props. We will be backstage ensuring everyone is in the right clothes at the right time
Spent a lot of time creating costumes for this play for Grange Drama. The costumes had to reflect the characters as they were played more as characatures than real people. I also made two identical costumes but distressed one to look as though it had been dragged through the mud.
Watch out for next productions- Vague is doing "Educating Rita" in May,
Grange Drama is doing "Relatively Speaking" in June
On behalf of Borwick and Priest Hutton W.I Committee can i say a very big thank you for all your hard work making our fashion show a huge success. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, we certainly did with all your help and support.Once again thank you so much and hope to see you again before too long.

Grange Youth Theatre and G,A.O.S youth Panto have been costumed by Hilary for nearly twenty years. The group has a membership of nearly 50 young people ranging from 7 to 18 years and Hilary has always provided excellent colourful costumes for all our shows. The costumes include chorus and principals; dames, prince and princess, giants, fairies, reindeer, ducks, horse and cow to name but a few.
We are very very pleased with her new extensive catalogue (via the net) and will continue to use this splendid resource.
My husband & I have used Hillary Stubbs for Fancy Dress for a few years, we have always found her so helpful and full of so many good ideas, her service is excellent and her choices fantastic, we can not recommend her enough. We also this last time had Hillary make some items for us, this again was first class and dealt with so quickly and professionally, we would truly recommend this bespoke side of her business too. There is a lot to be said also, for the way she greets you and deals with every detail, including accessories etc. We would certainly not go anywhere else.

Members of Grange Art Society welcomed a " Victorian " lady to their recent portrait painting session. Dressed in costume of the period Grange Drama actor Maggie McDonagh was applauded as she arrived in a beautiful outfit & hat with parasol + accessories. How did it all begin this " dressing up " ? It was the fun of walking around in grown up clothes at a very young age & as an adult treading the boards. Sitting for a portrait wearing period clothes simply continues that wonderful feeling of pretending to be someone else !
Thanks to Hilary Stubbs the dream goes on !
Dear Mrs Stubbs,
We recently hired costumes from you for a Rotary "Old Time Music Hall" evening and it was a great success. Choosing the costumes was such fun for a start. Your store is amazing and your advice invaluable. Many of the other 66 people attending the function hired costumes from you as well and we had a lovely fun filled and different evening. Glyn even won the best dressed man prize. Compared with some friends who obtained costumes elsewhere we must also say that your prices are very reasonable.
